Dear 1B,

I gather from the tags, your MSN nicks and from reading your blogs that something went wrong after I left. So allow me to say this and before any of you think of flaming your six fellow classmates, think about what I'm going to write. This is not directed at anyone in particular, and definately not at those who made the chalet possible.

Firstly, it is not easy to organise a simple barbecue, let alone a 3day 2night class chalet. Don't believe, ask 1A, in June, they had a class BBQ and they could not even the get the fire started and ended up eating at Macdonalds instead. I think a lot of credit has to be given to those who organised the Chalet, especially Huifen who went around collecting names and ideas from all of you on what to do during the chalet. Do bear in mind that she did this even DURING the exams. Not just that, the Barbecue went pretty decently and you were all fed. That's is quite a feat in itself. It is not easy at all trying to feed 10 people let alone 30.

Secondly, before any of you think the organisers did a bad job at the night games, ask yourself if you would have been able to do an equal job if you were in their shoes. After that, ask yourself if you were even willing to do so, if you were not willing to even lift a finger to help, then you have absolutely no right to complain. I have plenty of experience organising games for various groups, and I can safely say that it is a difficult task. There are many factors to consider, logistical issues, fun factor, safety, prizes, rules, location, wet weather programme etc. Not a simple feat even for a committee of 20 people, much less one with only 6.

Lastly, don't go away just remembering the chalet for what went wrong. Remember the things that went well. There is this tendency for students nowadays to remember the bad stuff. Remember the good stuff alright? When I look back on my own secndary school years, I remember so many things that screwed up, but I still look upon them with fondness and I do so with a smile. I hope that all of you would be able to do so too one day in the future and that all of you will be able to gather again one day as good friends.

One day, all of you here will be leaders in whatever CCA you are in. Then you will have a taste of organising camps, training sessions and bonding events for your CCA group. I'm very sure you will find it a very difficult task. I hope that when that day comes you will look back and remember those who sacrificed much for this chalet and that you will appreciate their contributions.

For those of you who had a hand in organising this chalet, I say "WELL DONE"! I enjoyed myself and I speak for the other teachers who attended as well. You all have a taste at organising something pretty massive, this will put you in good stead for the future.
